Have you heard of the Lavender Farm in Franschhoek? We had seen pictures of these picturesque purple fields in England and France but had no idea we had our own in the Cape Winelands! Our weekend at the Lavender Farm Guest House was the perfect romantic getaway.

The Honeymoon Suite

The Honeymoon Suite

We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which offers uninterrupted views of the lavender fields and sunset. It does have an adjoining wall to another suite (just thought we would mention that for potential honeymooners).

We truly loved our stay in this spacious, homey guest suite.

We find it’s often the small details that make certain experiences memorable. Here it was the option to get your buffet breakfast served directly to your private patio. We highly recommend this! So romantic!

A weekend in Franschhoek

Franschhoek is one of the most typically romantic destinations in South Africa. World class wine tastings, boutique restaurants, mountains, wine trams, quaint coffee shops, wedding venues, perfectly landscaped vineyards and a thousand different reasons to dress up. There’s no wonder why by lunch time all the other guests were out exploring!

Why is this wonderful? Because we got the pool all to ourselves!

Lavender sunsets

Our favourite feature of this guest house was most definitely the lavender. From the fresh morning smells to sunset strolls, we couldn’t get enough of this beautiful wonder!

As it turns out – little to our knowledge at the time – this stay was one to remember as it was our last romantic trip before falling pregnant (which happened the very next weekend)! Was it an outcome from all the romance and relaxation the weekend before, who knows… 😉
