Glamping at Africamps Wellington

The Glamping Tents

View our post from our Glamping at Africamps Pat Busch to see more on the interior of the tents. What we love about Africamps is the consistency of their tents across all their locations.

Leaving work early on Friday to be settled in for golden hour is very worth while. This dreamy time of day is when the wind drops, the steam starts to rise from the tub and the mountains light up with a luminous shade of orange.

This is the quality time that makes us fall in love with travel.

An extra level of escapism

These glamping tents have their own views, braais and hot tubs which allows for an extra level of privacy. There’s no need to interact with anyone else all weekend.

One of the unsuspecting highlights from our stay was our romantic dip in the hot tub while Willow napped. We don’t usually have this couple time together because the pool or “attraction” is often situated away from our accommodation.

This is the advantage of these small glamping tents. Rudolph and I could drink wine on the deck, swim, play beach bats on the lawn and really just enjoy all the features of the getaway while Willow slept a few steps away.

The intention of slowing down

Baby or no baby, sometimes its nice to go away and just settle in. The lush lawn in front of each tent allows for so many activities (great for kids)!

We often have to remind ourselves that we don’t always have to “do” or “accomplish” things when we’re away. Yes we love a good hike or excursion but sometimes after a busy work week, all we need is to relax in each other’s space (preferably here in nature).

The tents are situated relatively close together. However, the big stretch of lawn ahead and the row of trees planted between each tent makes it feel more private than it looks.

It could also be fun to go with a group and book out one or two tents next to each other.

Doolhof Wine Estate

We love that Africamps always locates their tents on a reserve or estate that offers added activities. Perfect for those travellers with itchy feet. Doolhof Wine Estate is a beautiful venue with picturesque foot paths, mountain bike trails and wine tasting offerings all within walking distance from your bed.

If you stay here at Africamps you get to enjoy a complimentary wine tasting on the venue. We put Willow in the stroller and wandered down the path to a selection of beautiful wines. This feature is another reason why it would be a fun spot to come with a group of friends/family.
